Qualified as an Engineer. Worked for 20 years for The Plessey Company, mainly on the development of military communications equipment. In 1972, at the age of 44, left to start a business outside the engineering field. No doubt my mouse design reflects this long absence from electronics.
About 6 years ago I became interested in Micromouse having been a spectator at the competition held at Bristol University. My early designs used stepper motors, and although easier to register distance travelled and control speed, I considered that the weight and battery power might always be a limiting factor. I moved to my current arrangement of a steered tricycle powered by small D.C. motors. I have also adopted a proprietary computer in place of my home constructed design.
I have managed to collect a couple of cheeses.
